These days, Fig is known for its personal, attentive service and a delicious, seasonally-rotating menu that features fresh Pacific seafood and Contemporary American classics, like their Wagyu beef burger, short ribs, and more. The current owners began renovating the place in 2012, and in 2018 the new was opened to the public. Since then the place has been host to several stores and restaurants, including a french place, furniture outlet, and Tequila importer. The Rileys kept the business going for 33 years before selling the building and retiring in 1960. A frequent customer of the cafe was the Duke himself, John Wayne. The original owners of the building were John and Jackie Riley, who operated a coffee and waffle shop on the site. Constructed in the Spanish Colonial style, its terra-cotta roof tiles and white stucco walls give its exterior and its interior space a relaxing Mediterranean vibe and evoke California’s rich history. The building itself has been standing since 1927 and is considered a historic structure in San Clemente. Their cozy patio area is lit by strings of lights hung from majestic palm trees, giving the space a feeling of backyard comfort. My name is Deb Pollock – I’m a licensed Realtor and UCPlaces’ local expert in Orange County. We then topped it off with a clear lacquer finish.Hello! Welcome to this UCPlaces tour of San Clemente’s vibrant restaurant scene. We achieved that by choosing a chestnut stain for the racks. So, not only does it have to be sturdy to house the large wine collection, it has to look beautiful, too. The client finally settled on using Alder wood as the primary material to be used for the construction of his custom wine racks. It works just as well as any of its “larger” counterparts, and we deem it a good fit for this particular San Clemente wine cellar project. It’s ideal for limited enclosures measuring up to 400 cubic feet, and it houses a humidification module which allows the user to control the temperature levels of the system via remote. We eventually settled on installing the Wine Guardian Ducted System. The space inside the room was mainly reserved for the client’s mammoth 856 wine bottle collection, so we had to consider that any cooling unit we had to install should be compact in nature.Ĭustom Wine Cellars CA, Wine Rack Installation & Wine Guardian Cooling Units The wine refrigeration system to be installed in the renovated wine cellar, however, is something we gave immense thought to. We then proceeded to re-seal the walls with quality insulation materials, and we replaced all the windows (even the one on the wine cellar door) with reinforced double glass panes. So, we had to take out not just the old wine racks, but the insulated coverings and single glass panes installed on the interiors, too. We knew then that it wouldn’t be just any “regular” fix we had to completely overhaul the whole area, and we had to start from scratch, too.Ĭustom Built Wine Cellars San Clemente California Coastal Project When we went to his home back in February 2015, this was the information we were presented with: the wine cellar was so dilapidated that it was just impossible to use it, and there were chinks in the insulation material. That’s why he recently contacted Coastal Wine Cellars California to help him make his dream San Clemente wine cellar project into a reality. Well, with the exception of the musty wine cellar in his house, that is. That was what led a recent client of ours to purchase an old house there back in early 2015, and he has not regretted his decision since. Its splendid mountain views and Mediterranean-like climes make it a perfect fit for people who can “take life easy”. San Clemente is a gorgeous seaside town in California.
